A new wave of "crusade" against Azerbaijan begins, MP of Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan, political scientist Aydin Mirzazade told Trend Apr.29.
He made the remarks commenting on the documents received in connection with the fact that anti-Azerbaijani campaign is run from the office of US Secretary of State John Kerry.
Mirzazade said that such steps are not being taken for the first time, as Azerbaijan undergoes attacks from time to time which aim to put pressure on the country, and weaken its economy.
"The matter is that independent internal and foreign policy of Azerbaijan seriously worries certain circles," the MP said. "Certain forces are trying to turn Azerbaijan into their outpost. Some large companies are trying to take revenge on Azerbaijan for losing billions of dollars of revenues."
"They don't like the fact that the incomes from oil are directed to solve economic and social problems, creation of a strong state," he said. "Today, it would be beneficial for them if Azerbaijan was in the same position as Libya and Syria. It is necessary for some forces to influence Azerbaijan, do what they want, interfere in the affairs of the country at any time. But they fail at doing that."
"Azerbaijan has never been anyone's outpost," he said. "It has not carried out the political orders of any foreign country."
"Therefore, the attempts are made to conduct the color revolutions, "Azerbaijani spring" and to undermine the image of Azerbaijan on the international arena," he said. "John Kerry's plan is a new stage. But it will never be implemented. First, Azerbaijan has no serious social problems. Second, these circles do not have a strong social base in Azerbaijan."
"Therefore, they are fighting to create the "fifth column" in the country," he said. "The purpose is to stifle the country with problems. This is a two-year plan. But there is the US presidential election ahead. The authorities will change. The certain individuals just try to get political dividends from this campaign. Moreover, it will be easier for them to "launder" the money allocated for "democracy." In any case, this plan is doomed to fail."
