Azerbaijan is an island of stability in the unstable region, chairman of the Pakistani Senate's Defence Committee Mushahid Hussain Syed told Trend Nov.2.
He said that Pakistani parliamentary delegation held a meeting with Azerbaijan's president Nov.1.
Hussain Syed said Baku and Islamabad have not only strong diplomatic, but also strategic ties.
Azerbaijan and Pakistan are good friends which support each other in important issues, he said, adding that in particular, Pakistan supports Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
Azerbaijan has created a progressive, open and tolerant society in the heart of the Caucasus, has achieved great progress in fighting extremism and terrorism which lead to instability and violence in the Middle East, according to the MP.
