President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has viewed the conditions created at the IT STEP Academy of the newly renovated Baku Vocational Lyceum No. 9 in Binagadi District, Baku.

Minister of Education Mikayil Jabbarov informed the president that the building of the Baku Vocational Lyceum No. 9, which occupies an area of more than 1,400 square meters, has been overhauled this year. The new IT STEP Academy will function in the building from the new academic year.

The IT STEP Academy was founded in 1998 and has 44 branches in 17 countries around the world. The academy trains specialists on three areas: computer graphics and design, software development and network technologies, and system administration. The teaching process is about 1,900 academic hours and it takes two and a half years.

The IT STEP graduates, along with a diploma, are given certificates of Cisco, Microsoft and Autodesk.

Some 2,100 people from the age of 8 to 55 can get education at the academy in Baku. Currently 210 people have applied to study at the academy, and this figure is expected to reach 500 by the end of the year.

Seventeen computer rooms and four specialized laboratories of robot technology, art, graphic design and photo studios will function here.
