Ilham Aliyev: Some foreign circles aim to turn Azerbaijan into tool
Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 15
Some foreign circles aim to dictate to Azerbaijan, to turn the country into a tool and break Azerbaijani people’s will, said Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev.
He made the remarks addressing a ceremony for opening of a new building of school No. 311 in Sabunchu District, Baku, Sept. 15.
“We are building our future and we are moving forward. Therefore, in continuing this positive dynamics and making the development sustainable, I reiterate that patriotism, national values, national spirit hold a special place, because our importance in the world is increasing,” said President Aliyev.
“There are quite a number of those intending to interfere in our affairs,” he said. “Those intending to interfere in our affairs at different times have been pursuing their goals throughout these years. Those goals do not coincide with that of our. Our goals are independence, freedom and people’s welfare.”
“Some foreign circles have quite a different purpose: to dictate to us, to turn Azerbaijan into a tool, to break Azerbaijani people’s will, and then to use a powerful country like Azerbaijan for their own purposes. This would be a catastrophe for us,” added the president.
“We see the experience and recent history of other countries. The countries, which are controlled from abroad, are destroyed,” said President Aliyev, adding the countries which don’t resist external negative impact, are destroyed and their people perish.
Azerbaijan’s president pointed out that millions of people have been killed in the Middle East over the last 10 years.
“Tens of millions of people have become disabled, refugees and IDPs, the countries, the entire infrastructure have been destroyed,” he said, adding that all this is done by external forces.
“Therefore, our youth, teachers should know this reality,” added the president.
“The pressure on us is increasing, because we move on our own path, do not bow before anyone, we behave with dignity, protect our national interests, put Azerbaijani people’s interests above everything, and this policy should continue,” he said. “Today, we have this policy. I pursue this policy and no force can turn me from this path.”
President Aliyev noted that independent policy is the main factor of independence, and in this case there always will be development, tranquility and Azerbaijani people will live in convenience, safety, as they live today.
“Our policy consists of this. I believe that our example is attractive for many countries as well. Therefore, currently, Azerbaijan enjoys great respect and trust in the world, because we pursue a dignified policy and always protect the people’s interests. I want the youth to develop in this direction and I am confident that it will be so,” said President Aliyev.
