Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev offered condolences to German Chancellor Angela Merkel on December 20 over heavy casualties after a lorry ploughed into a Christmas market in Berlin.
“We were deeply saddened by the news of heavy casualties and injuries as a result of a bloody terror attack in Berlin,” the president said in his letter of condolences.
“We are outraged by this tragic event, condemn this act of brutality against civilians and deem it significant to unite efforts in the fight against terrorism.”
“On behalf of the people of Azerbaijan and on my own behalf, I extend my deepest condolences to you, the bereaved families, the loved ones of those who died and the people of Germany, and wish the injured the swiftest possible recovery,” the Azerbaijani president added.
