The rapid development of the Azerbaijani economy is obvious, Ali Ahmadov, Azerbaijani deputy prime minister said.
He made remarks at the meeting with entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan’s city of Sumgait June 20.
Ahmadov said that over the past 12 years, the country's economy has grown by 3.5 times.
“The basis of this development was laid by Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev,” he said, adding that it is also the result of the successful policy continued by the country’s President Ilham Aliyev today.
"The economic development is the basis for the development of all spheres in Azerbaijan,” he said.
“The poverty level decreased from 50 percent to 5 percent in Azerbaijan, the welfare of the population greatly improved, salaries increased, pensions tripled, the settlements and cities of the country were changed and modernized due to the funds obtained as a result of economic development,” he said. “It would be impossible to achieve it without economic development."
He said that carrying out of all the further work is also connected with economic development.
"Therefore, the priority of President Aliyev's policy is economic development,” Ahmadov said. “Today it is planned to carry out radical reforms in the Azerbaijani economic sphere. Henceforth, a new stage is beginning in the development of the country's economy, which requires more responsibility from entrepreneurs and an increase in the activity coefficient."
