President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has accepted credentials of newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sudan Abbas Mustafa Ahmad Abdulla Dec. 8.
The ambassador reviewed a guard of honor, and presented his credentials to President Aliyev.
President Aliyev then spoke with the ambassador. Hailing the high-level bilateral relations between the two countries, the president said that there are good opportunities for expanding these ties.
The president praised the two countries' active cooperation within international organizations, including the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
President Aliyev expressed his hope that Ahmad Abdullah will spare no efforts to further strengthen relations in various fields, including economic, investment and humanitarian ones during his tenure.
The ambassador extended Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmed Al Bashir’s greetings to President Aliyev, adding that president of the Republic of Sudan instructed him to make every effort to further develop economic relations with friendly Azerbaijan.
Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the ambassador said: “The position of the Republic of Sudan on this issue is and will remain unchanged. All the occupied territories of Azerbaijan must be liberated and territorial integrity must be restored.”
Ahmad Abdullah expressed his country’s keenness in further expansion of cooperation with Azerbaijan in economic, cultural and other spheres.
President Aliyev expressed his gratitude for Sudan’s fair attitude on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The president thanked for Omar Hassan Ahmed Al Bashir’s greetings, and asked the ambassador to communicate his greetings to the Sudanese president.
