Those, who understand the deep essence of the issues, know that the words of the Armenian Foreign Minister are absolutely far from reality, Hikmet Hajiyev, Spokesman for the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Hajiyev noted that the speech of Armenian Foreign Minister is nothing but hypocrisy and false emotions.

"We do not see the need to comment on the duplicate statements of the Armenian Foreign Minister", Hajiyev added.

He noted that it is difficult to understand whom the Armenian Foreign Minister is trying to deceive - the international community or the Armenian people. "The increase in the number of field assistants of the OSCE chairperson-in-office personal representative is an auxiliary tool that depends on substantive and logical negotiations", Hajiyev said.

The spokesman added that observing such speeches, it is easy to understand why Armenia is in the condition of political, economic and demographic crisis. "The Armenian people must see who is in the leadership of the country and draw conclusions from this", Hajiyev said.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
