Azerbaijan to host national seminar on support to "Sustainable Development Goals"

The national seminar on "The role of sustainable agriculture and food industry in achieving Sustainable Development Goals in Azerbaijan" will be held in Baku on September 24 in order to improve the capabilities for the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in the country.
The aim of the seminar is to analyze multilateral and multi-purpose links between agriculture and Sustainable Development Goals in Azerbaijan.
The seminar is aimed at state (ministries, state agencies and committees) and non-state (civil society, private sector) institutions engaged in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in Azerbaijan, especially in the fields of agriculture, food industry, forestry and fisheries.
The three "acceleration platforms" have been defined for Azerbaijan in the MAPS (Merger, Acceleration and Policy Support) report: inclusive labor market, promotion of green growth, delivery of developed public and social services. The agriculture can play a significant role in at least two "acceleration platforms" related to labor markets and green growth.
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations supports the government of Azerbaijan in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in the agricultural and food sector.
The project entitled as "Enhancement of support for the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in Azerbaijan", implemented with the technical and scientific support of the Vienna University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, is aimed at ending poverty, hunger, to ensure gender equality, clean water and sanitation, responsible consumption and production, combating climate change, protection of the marine ecosystem, protection of the Earth's ecosystem.
