Azerbaijan is taking important measures to deepen economic reforms and increase the competitiveness of the economy, Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Novruz Mammadov said.
He was speaking at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers chaired by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dedicated to results of socio-economic development in the nine months of 2018 and objectives for the future.
“In particular, important work is carried out in the industrial sector, non-oil sector,” he said. “Macroeconomic situation in Azerbaijan is stable, investment and infrastructure projects are being consistently implemented, social problems of the poor, the families of martyrs, the disabled of the Karabakh war, as well as IDPs are constantly in the center of attention of the state.”
“As the Azerbaijani president noted, the opening of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) this year and the TANAP project are great achievements,” Mammadov noted. “The recent launch of the Azerspace-2 satellite into orbit and the creation of Sumgait, Mingachevir and Masalli industrial districts is our success. All the issues envisaged in connection with infrastructure projects are resolved. The government care for the development of agriculture and increasing employment in the Azerbaijani districts shows its high efficiency. Significant progress is observed in the field of cotton growing and viticulture, fruit growing, vegetable growing.”
Speaking about the successful results in the socio-economic field of Azerbaijan and purposeful work to further deepen economic reforms, Prime Minister Novruz Mammadov said that as President Ilham Aliyev noted, Azerbaijan, the international position of which further strengthens, contributes to the development of stability, security and cooperation in the region.
After concluding thorough exchange of views on the results of socio-economic development, Prime Minister Novruz Mammadov gave relevant instructions to the relevant departments of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers in connection with the planned measures to implement the instructions given by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the meeting.
