Karabakh should be associated with peace and development, not war - Turkish FM
BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 27
By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:
We want Karabakh to be associated not with war, but with peace and development, Trend reports, referring to the statement of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu at a joint press conference with his Azerbaijani colleague Jeyhun Bayramov.
"September 27 is the Remembrance Day of the martyrs of the Patriotic War of Azerbaijan, which resulted in Karabakh’s liberation. At today's meeting of the foreign ministers of the member countries of the Turkic Council, we paid tribute to the memory of our martyrs and from now on we want Karabakh to be associated not with war, but with peace and development," Cavusoglu said.
The situation in the region should normalize, he added.
"There are new opportunities for cooperation and prosperity in the region. Azerbaijan has put forward very valuable proposals in this direction. We want these opportunities to be appreciated by all countries that will only benefit from them. Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ilham Aliyev have repeatedly stated that they want peace, prosperity, and tranquility in the region," Cavusoglu stated.
