BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 25

By Farid Zohrabov – Trend:

The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Moldova and the Diaspora are taking part in the delivery of Azerbaijani citizens from Ukraine to Moldova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Moldova Gudsey Osmanov told Trend.

According to him, as the airspace of Ukraine is closed, Azerbaijanis are currently unable to leave the country by air.

"In this regard, the citizens of Azerbaijan, who are in serious danger, can enter Moldova by land across two border crosses with Ukraine, Ocnita and Palanca. The Moldovan side, due to the current humanitarian situation, will not require COVID-passports from Azerbaijanis wishing to cross the land border," Osmanov said.

The ambassador said the Moldovan government deployed placement centers for refugees. Azerbaijani citizens are among those to have crossed the border.

"The airspace of Moldova is closed for known reasons. Due to this fact, Azerbaijani citizens should move from Moldova to Romania, then to Bulgaria, and from Bulgaria to Istanbul. As a second way, Azerbaijanis can travel to Bucharest, and then fly to Istanbul," Osmanov said.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov told reporters that yesterday and today 199 Azerbaijani citizens left Ukraine through the Ukrainian-Moldovan border.

In case of arising questions, citizens can contact the Azerbaijani Embassy in Moldova by phone: +373 781 81 361, +373 789 91 849, +373 222 32 277 and by e-mail: [email protected].
