BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 5. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) collected 793 biological samples from relatives of 316 Azerbaijani citizens, who went missing during the first Karabakh war in the 1990s, in order to create conditions for further identification of human remains in 2021, Trend reports.

The ICRC made the remark at an event, dedicated to its last year's activities, on May 5 in Baku.

According to the organization, with its participation as a neutral intermediary, 346 operations were carried out to search and remove human remains in the territories where the battles took place.

Besides, 347 families of the missing people were provided with psychological and social support, and 258 families - with financial assistance, ICRC added.
