BEIJING, China, April 23. China has expressed strong support for the peace agenda proposed by Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
This was stated in the "Joint Declaration on the Establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People's Republic of China," signed in Beijing on April 23.
The Joint Declaration was signed by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping.
"The Parties firmly support each other in pursuing development paths chosen by their respective peoples and in accordance with their national conditions, and provide resolute support to each other in safeguarding fundamental interests, sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. The Azerbaijani side recognizes that there is only one China in the world, that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and that the government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing the whole of China. Azerbaijan firmly opposes any form of “Taiwan independence” and supports the Chinese government in realizing the reunification of the country.
China, in turn, firmly supports Azerbaijan’s peace agenda and considers confrontation-driven geopolitical games to be counterproductive," the Declaration reads.
