KARABAKH VETERANS STAGE PROTEST ACTION, INDIGNANT WITH ARMENIAN PRESENCE AT PACE MEETING

Activists of the Karabakh Liberation Organization (KLO) on July 5 arranged a protest action, voicing their staunch protest against the participation of an Armenian representative in the seminar on population displacement in the South Caucasus.

The members of the supporters of the Organization gathered near the Hyatt Regency Hotel вЂ" the seminar venue вЂ" and tried to prevent the continuation of the event, organized by the Sub-Committee on Refugees of the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Population, in cooperation with Milli Majlis (parliament).

The hotel security and police failed to stop some of the protesters, who were lucky to enter the hotel. At the entrance, they were met by Samad Seyidov, the head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

He assured the gazilar (veterans of the 1991-1994 Karabakh war) that the Armenian representative, Robert Melik-Pashayev, was not absent at the meeting. It seemed that Seyidov had lost the confidence among the gazilar, and they upstairs, where other MPs Baxtiyar Aliyev and Asim Mollazada assured the protesters of what was said by Mr. Seyidov.

The appearance of additional police near the hotel has escalated the situation вЂ" some KLO activists have left injured following a confrontation with police and hotel security. No protester has been detained by the police.

The arrival of the Armenian in Baku was not the only reason for the outrage of KLO activists вЂ" Armenia continues the occupation of almost 20 per cent of Azerbaijan’s territories, with the Council of Europe refusing to recognize the aggressive and occupational policy by Azerbaijan’s staunch enemy.

The aggression is aimed against Azerbaijan, but the Christianity-dominated West encourages the Moslem nation to return the good for evil, given that Armenians also regard themselves as Christians.
