The entire South Caucasus region will benefit from rapprochment of Turkey and Russia, such an idea has been voiced by the Russian expert, leader of the foreign policy section of the “Commersant” newspaper, Azer Mursaliyev in his interview to Trend, while commenting on the results of the Turkish Prime Minister Redjep Tayab Erdogan’s visit to Russia.
The expert noted that political circles in Russia commenced recently to adapt themselves more actively to the interests of the economic and financial circles, who find it advantageous to take a direct part in the joint energy projects in Turkey.
В"Rapprochment of Russia and Turkey means decrease of possible sharp political changes in the South Caucasus region, Mursaliyev said, having noted, that unsettlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as activization of the Workers’ Party of Kurdistan (PKK) are the factors hindering not only Ankara but Moscow too.
В"There is no secret in the fact, that the Kremlin has considered Turkey for a long time as the vehicle of the Western interests, supporting to this or that extent the forces Ankara found destructive “, the expert reminded, having noted, that with the involvement in joint regional projects Moscow will inevitably change its standpoint on many issues. The Kremlin, will be particularly interested in settlement of regional conflicts.
