The amphibian coastal phase of the international “Peace Shield вЂ"2005”exercises will take place on 3-13 August on the Crimea’s military polygons. 10 military officers of the Azerbaijan’s Armed Forces are expected to take part in the exercises, Trend reports with reference to diplomatic sources.
On the whole, participation of militaries from the Ukraine, USA, Georgia, as well as observers from about 10 countries of the world are planned to be involved in this phase of the exercises. Maneuvers are targeted at the improvement of mutual compatibility of headquarters and subunits of the exercises member states, practical application of the experience, obtained in peace-keeping operations and at previous exercises, increase of mutual understanding and cooperation level between the militaries of various countries. According to the scheme, elements of military and political situation, turned out in Iraq will be used at the “Peace Shield вЂ"2005”.
The “Peace Shield” exercises are traditionally held by the Ground Forces of the Ukraine and the USA in the framework of the “Partnership in the name of peace” program under the subject ”Participation in the international peace-keeping operation on establishing peace”.
