Insufficient awareness of the Azerbaijan’s public on the anti-corruption commission activities is an indisputable shortcoming, needed to be removed in the shortest possible time, chairman of the permanent parliamentary commission on legal policy and the state building, member of the governmental commission on struggle against corruption, Ali Huseynov said in his interview with Trend.
According to Huseynov, although the site www.commission-anticorruption.gov.az has been functioning for over a month, not only the ordinary citizen, the Media representatives also have no idea of its existence.
В"I will personally raise the issue on simplification of the site’s name”, Ali Huseynov underlined, having noted, the information on the decisions of each sitting of the anti-corruption commission is placed on the site, as well as on the international cooperation in the field of the corruption fighting, legal norms of the Azerbaijan Republic.
Touching upon the complaints, sent to the anti-corruption commission, the commission member noted, “there are actually many complaints, however, most of them are anonymous, which impedes their consideration”.
В"My personal opinion is the scrutiny of anonymous complaints must also take place”, a parliamentarian said, having noted, it is not correct to speak of any specific “corrupted sphere” in Azerbaijan. В"There are spheres, concerning the interests of the small circle of physical and legal entities, where the facts of corruption are also possible. For instance, tenders or privatization”, Huseynov noted, having underlined, any statement in this perspective is of a subjective character.
According to the commission member, holding of public opinion polls with involvement of non-governmental organizations is possible in the future, which will enable to speak with a certain confidence on the “degree of corruptness” of this or that sphere in the public life of Azerbaijan.
Touching upon the issue of preparation of yearly reports on the commission’s activities results, Huseynov noted, these documents would be undoubtedly prepared and sent to the President of Azerbaijan and the Milli Mejlis for consideration.
