Restrictions for participation of the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) of Azerbaijan in monitoring of the forthcoming parliamentary elections must be removed, the chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe PACE) Rene van der Linden made such a statement on 23 August in Baku at the news conference on the results of his visit to Azerbaijan, Trend reports
В"NGO is an integral part of any democratic society”, the PACE chairman noted, stressing, that NGOs are one of the key elements, providing the dialogue between the Council of Europe and Azerbaijan.
В"I know, for today in Azerbaijan there are restrictions for the NGO participation in the 6 November parliamentary elections”, the PACE chairman noted, however, for holding fair and open election these restrictions must be removed.
