NEITHER TURKEY, NOR AZERBAIJAN WILL LEAVE PEOPLE OF CYPRUS WITH THEIR PROBLEMS, CYPRIOT FM STATES

“The Cypriot Turks are very grateful for President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan for support in the removal of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus from isolation ,“ Serdar Denktash, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, said at Heydar Aliyev airport on Monday.

В"The first flight was implemented from Cyprus to Baku. This is an historical event and I cannot express the joy I feel know. It should not become the last flight,” Denktash underscored.

Noting the significance of the visit for the resolution of the Cyprus problem Denktash said that the people of Cyprus were awaiting the settlement. “We also expect such steps from other world countries,” he stressed.

According to Denktash, the Baku-Lefkoshe flight will push the Greek Community of Cyprus to more constructive approach to the resolution of longstanding problem.

“The key objective of the visit is to search way for rapid outlet from the isolation,” Denktash underscored.

“I know that the Azerbaijani government has repeatedly made pressures with a demand of cessation of relations with the Northern Cyprus and the continuation of such attempts are not ruled out,” the Cypriot Foreign Minister stressed.

Denktash underlined that within 3-day official visit they will announce a concrete position that neither Turkey, nor Azerbaijan will leave the people of Cyprus head-to-head with problems’.
