OSCE CHAIRMAN-IN-OFFICE BACKS PROXIMITY IN POSITIONS OF AZERBAIJAN, ARMENIA

Dmitriy Rupel, the chairman-in-office of the OSCE, also the Slovenian Foreign Minister, appraised the tangible by-stage proximity in the position of Azerbaijan and Armenia in the resolution of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict Nagorno-Karabakh.

He was briefing the media on Monday on the results of talks with the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov, and the head of the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh, Nizami Bahmanov held during his current visit, the second-in-turn to Azerbaijan.

According to Rupel, the talks mainly focused on the resolution of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, in particular, exchange of opinions on further steps in the direction of the resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Besides, during meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev Rupel discussed the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.

The sides touched upon the development of bilateral Azerbaijani-Slovenian cooperation. The chairman-in-office of the OSCE voiced his hope that in future the Azerbaijani President will pay an official visit to Slovenia.

The Foreign Minister also voiced his satisfaction with the results of talks.
