AZERI -POLISH JOINT COMMISSION TO BE ESTABLISHED BY END 2005
вЂњAn Azerbaijani-Polish intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation will be established by the end of the year,вЂќ Voychekh Guretski, an adviser to the Polish Ambassador to Azerbaijan, told Trend.
According to the adviser, the issue will be processed during the meeting of the Aseri Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov with the Polish officials, who currently participate in an economic four of the Central Europe countries. The diplomat said that for the first question was put forward during Azerbaijani Foreign MinisterвЂ™s visit to Poland in October 2004.вЂќSoon we will more probably see the real results,вЂќ he underlined.
Guretski said that the Polish staff of the commission was not approved in connection with the forthcoming parliamentary and presidential elections in Poland scheduled for autumn. В"The elections will be held, some changes are expected within the government and then the new government will set up the implementation of the projects,В" the diplomat underlined.
He also noted that Poland was keen on close cooperation with Azerbaijan in all spheres. One of bilateral projects is the Odessa-Brody-Gdansk and Poland wants to purchase Azerbaijani oil. As Kazakh oil runs via Azerbaijan Poland would like it to run via the Black Sea to Odessa and afterwards to Gdansk, Guretski underlined. В"The trade relationships do not satisfy us,вЂќ he added.
According to forecasts, in 2005 the goods turnover will comprise no more than $50m, while it is still unsatisfactory, he stressed, noting that the establishment of a joint commission would promote the establishment of more favorable climate for upgrade of trade bonds.
