A sitting of the political group for democratic reforms of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), in which discussions of the document on Turkey and the South Cyprus took place, was held in Strasbourg on 3 October. At the political group sitting the chairman of the Party of Democratic Reforms (PDR) of Azerbaijan Asim Mollazade spoke and condemned the document, Trend reports citing the press service of PDR.

He stated, adopting such a document in PACE on the eve of the start of negotiations between the European Union and Turkey aimed against Turkey. В"The guilty side for the failure of the plan by Coffi Annan is not Turkey, but the Southern Cyprus. Therefore, the whole responsibility for the non-solution of the Cyprus problem lies with the Greek side. PACE is to condemn the South Cyprus for being not interested in the solution of the conflict. It is strange, Armenia does not recognize the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, however, PACE does not adopt such a document.

At the same time, PACE wants Turkey to recognize the Southern Cyprus. It is a manifestation of double standards. Before making Turkey to recognize the Southern Cyprus, PACE is to force Armenia to recognize the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan”, Mollazade stated at the group’s sitting.

The document may be put for consideration at the PACE autumn session. The Azerbaijan’s delegation to PACE came out against the document and demonstrated solidarity with the delegation of Turkey to PACE.
