“No one imposed restriction in an official order on the continuation of the activities between the European Union and Azerbaijan on the New Neighborhood Plans,” Elmar Mammadyarov, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, told journalists. He was commenting on the reports on cessation of consultations between the EU and South Caucasus counties at the request of the Cyprus Republic.

“We hear something, but we carry out our plans in an official order. As far as we know, EU experts have not arrive in Baku and in the region for technical reasons. We are waiting for experts from Brussels, who are involved in EU’s New Neighborhood Policy, and will visit Baku, Yerevan and Tbilisi,” the minister underlined.

In respond to question about statements on aggravation of relationship between Azerbaijan and Cyprus Republic due to cooperation of Baku with the self-proclaimed Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the Minister said that he held a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Cyprus, Georg Jabob in New York under the UN General Assembly and discussed many issues. “He did not voice any protest in regard to cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan.
