Cooperation with the European Union (EU) is also important for Azerbaijan, deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Mahmud Mammadkuliyev said in a statement, commenting on the reports on possible delay of the EU program “New Neighborhood Policy” implementation in connection with the cooperation of Azerbaijan with the northern part of Cyprus.
According to him, Azerbaijan is an alternative and serious source of energy resources for Europe and the country is very important from the point of view of transport corridors. I think, EU will take positive decision and our process of cooperation with EU will develop”, Mammadkuliyev noted.
В"We act in accordance with the position of the international institutions, particularly, with UNO and EU on lifting the isolation, implementation of economic, cultural links with the northern part of the island. Here there are purely commercial, technical issues. I think, perhaps, there is some misunderstanding from the side of another part of the island and these issues will be likely to settle”, deputy FM said and added, the Azerbaijani does not violate the international law by cooperating with the Northern Cypriots.
