SUMMIT OF BALTIC AND SOUTH CAUCASUS COUNTRIES HEADS OF STATES PLANNED TO HOLD IN VILNIUS

The summit of the heads of states of the Baltic and South Caucasus countries is planned to be held in Vilnius in 2006, the diplomatic sources told Trend.

On the issue of preparations to the summit the consultations in December in Brussels at the expected meeting of the Foreign Ministers (FM) of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are planned to be held in the framework of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the NATO member states and the partners. The issues of holding the meeting of the FM heads, as well as the summit of the South Caucasus and Baltic states are under elaboration so far.

It should be noted the Foreign Ministers of Georgia and Lithuania, Salome Zurabishvili and Antanas Valionis signed recently a joint statement. There is a call there to the FM heads of Latvia, Estonia, Azerbaijan and Armenia to extend the initiative on cooperation proposed by Lithuania between the above-mentioned countries.
