Any development of events in Azerbaijan is to be based on peaceful changes, the president of the “Radio Liberty “Tomas Dein, visiting Baku, said in a statement on 14 October at the meeting with journalists, Trend reports.

Tomas Dein noted during his five-day visit to Azerbaijan he was in Baku, Guba, Hachmaz, held meetings with representatives of the authorities and the opposition, as well as with the leaders of non-governmental organizations, students and journalists. A special significance the radio station head attached to the results of his meeting with the President Ilham Aliyev, voicing satisfaction by Aliyev’s appraisal of the Liberty radio activities.

Tomas Dein reminded the radio station broadcast in 19 states of the world and underlined, for today the rating of the radio station in Azerbaijan is high as never before.

The company’s head touched also upon the issue of preparations to the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, noting the importance of exit polls, as well as the necessity to use marking paint and more detailed listing of voters. In his view, involvement of 1400 international observers in the elections is a very positive moment to define “how frank the position of the official Baku on fulfillment of international commitments is”.

В"Рђzerbaijan is the state with the dynamically developing economy and for today it is the strongest country in South Caucasus. Holding of democratic elections is the condition for the country’s further development”, Dein said at the end, noting it is high time for Armenia, lagging behind in development to contemplate over the situation formed around.
