Steven Mann: OSCE Minsk Group has enough ideas and proposals

A meeting of the OSCE Minsk group co-chairs will take place on 24-25 October in Washington, at which the results of the Kazan meetings of the Azerbaijani and Armenian Presidents will be discussed with participation of the OSCE acting chairman personal envoy on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict Andzey Kasprshik, as well as the action plan for the coming months, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair from the USA, the chief advisor and the US State Secretary special envoy on Nagorny Karabakh and Euro-Asian conflicts Steven Mann told the news conference in Baku on 20 October,Trend reports.

He called the forthcoming meeting “traditional”, noting, that for today the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen do not experience lack of ideas and proposals”. However, according to Steven Mann, the sides are to keep confidentiality.

В"Approaches of Armenia and Azerbaijan to the negotiation process are very serious”, the Minsk Group co-chair underlined, noting that “positions of the sides are to be well analyzed ”.

As for the latest reports of the international Crisis Group (ICG) on settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict Mann noted, “such documents may affect positively the process of settlement” of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.

В"The Washington position is that the main platform for discussion of the ways for solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must remain the OSCE Minsk Group, and the initiatives of various international structures, ICG in particular, are undoubtedly, positive’, Steven Mann stressed.

At the end the American diplomat voiced the opinion on involvement of the Nagorny Karabakh heads of communities to the negotiation process, stating “the issue depends on the positions of leadership of Azerbaijan and Armenia only”.
