BakuTel-2005 exhibitions started in Baku

At the Heydar Aliyev Sports and Concert Complex in Baku a four-day 11-th international exhibition on telecommunications and information technologies BakuTel-2005 started its work, Trend reports. The Minister of Communications and Information Technologies (MCIT) Ali Abbasov, head of the informational resources and technologies department of the Azerbaijan’s President’s Administration Elmir Velizade, the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Reno Harnish and other officials took part in the opening.

Abbasov noted, the second priority sphere in Azerbaijan is informational technologies. The growth in the sector reached 38% last year, for 9 months 2005 - 32%. According to him, holding such events will enable additional investments to the country for the sector’s development.

This year 100 companies from 20 countries take part in the BakuTel-2005. The exhibition’s area has been increased by 25% as compared to the previous year. New companies are 40% of the exhibition.
