Stef Goris: Inter-parliamentary Assembly of West-European Union to consider issue on Azerbaijan’ permanent membership

“I will initiate considering the issue of sending invitation to the official Baku on involvement Azerbaijan in the work of the Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the West-European Union (IAWU) as the organizations’ permanent member”, the IAWU chairman Stef Goris said in a statement to journalists on 26 October, Trend reports.

В"Immediately after return to Paris I will make a statement on the necessity to involve Azerbaijan and other South Caucasus states in IAWU as permanent members”, Goris noted, saying during the meetings held in Baku he invited the Azerbaijan’s delegation to take part in the work of the IAWU next session to take place in December in Paris.

В"I assess highly the consent of the head of the state Ilham Aliyev to participate in the forthcoming session”, the IAWU chairman stressed, noting the Azerbaijan’s President has also voiced his interest in involving his country in IAWU.

The goal of the IAWU’s delegation visit which started on 22 October is reporting on the situation on stability and security in Azerbaijan.
