Brian Fall: We hope forthcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan will be transparent and just

We hope that the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan will be held in transparent and just environment, the head of the European Union (EU) delegation, a special envoy of the United Kingdom in South Caucasus Brian Fall said in a statement on 27 October upon arrival in Baku, Trend reports.

В"Preparations for the elections is a very responsible and complicated process and I think, each elector must have the right to give his vote”, Fall noted, expressing the hope that each vote will be taken into account on 6 November.

At the same time the diplomat reported, that in the framework of his visit a constructive dialogue with the Azerbaijan’s officials, particularly, the Foreign Minister, the Interior Minister, the Defense Minister, the Economic Development Minister, as well as the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will take place, as well as meetings with representatives of political parties.

Among the delegation’s members are the EU special envoy in South Caucasus Heikki Talvitie, the head of the British Foreign Office Eastern department Simon Smith, the head of the Caucasus and Central Asia foreign relations department of the EU Commission Kurt Juul, an official of the Austrian FM Heidemaria Guerer, the head of the European Commission mission in Armenia and Georgia, the Ambassador Torben Holtze, in charge of the EU South Caucasus issues Paolo Barroso.
