“The Azerbaijani law-enforcement bodies would like return of ex-speaker Rasul Guliyev, the chairman of the Azerbaijan Democratic Party, and the heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs repeatedly stated that he could repatriate,” Ramil Usubov, the Azerbaijani Interir Minister, said to journalists, Trend reports.

“In accordance with the Azerbaijani Criminal Code, the law-enforcement bodies were due to read out accusations to Guliyev at the airport and dispatch to one of the jails,” Usubov underlined. He stressed that two lawyers of Guliyev were also invited to Heydar Aliyev airport.

“We are ready to arrest Guliyev today,” the Minister noted.

In reply to the question “What necessity was in taking out tanks and armored technique?”, Usubov answered the step was related to the measures on prevention of attempts to access to power by force by the ADP chairman and his followers.

“Guliyev was going to Baku not to give himself up the law-enforcement bodies, but he hoped that his supporters would overcome the police cordon and prevent his arrest. Guliyev planned to come to power under the support of the nation, but the Azerbaijani nation did not support him that lead to failure of the plan,” the Minister stressed.
