Mikhail Margelov appreciates events in Azerbaijan as attempt to commit a coup d’etat

Mikhail Margelov, the chairman of the Council of Federation on International Affairs, appreciates as attempt to commit a coup d’etat, Trend reports referring to RIA �Novosti’. “It is not worth to mix up the events in Azerbaijan with the orange revolutions taken place in some countries,” he noted.

According to Margelov, though the revolutions in other former republics of the USSR were not legitimate, they were supported by considerable part of population, while the events in Azerbaijan were no more than initiative of a group of citizens. “Taking into consideration geographic location of the country and its national peculiarities, I don’t exclude that the conspirators were backed by fundamentalism,”

Marganov underlined that the access to power by force on the eve of the parliamentary elections was direct treat for the reforms carried out over the last 15 years.
