“Conditions worrying Reporters Without Borders removed,” Chairman of Media Council

“On the voting day all conditions for journalist activities were established and no serious violations were observed,” Aflatun Amashov, the chairman of the Azerbaijani Media Council, told Trend.

Touching upon the statement of the Reporters Without Borders on journalist activities during the parliamentary elections held in Azerbaijan on 6 November, Amashov said that the violations, which may be the reasons for worry, were considered and removed locally on the voting day.

Amashov reported that around 10 employees of the Media Council and 5 employees of Ruh Committee on Protection of Journalist Rights during the parliamentary elections. According to observers, there were no hindrances for activities of journalists covering the elections. Only in some cases the journalists faced with hindrances and their problems were resolved after they addressed to the Media Council.
