“OIC countries required immediate & unconditional liberation of Azerbaijan’s occupied territories,” Elman Arasly

“The Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) countries required immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Armenian Armed Forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan,” Elman Arasly, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, told Trend.

According to Arasly, the final statement by the organization condemns occupation of the Azerbaijani territories by Armenia. “The document underlines necessity of immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Armenian Armed Forces from Azerbaijan’s occupied territories,” the Ambassador noted.

Diplomat said that the participation of Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani President, in the OIC summit had great importance for development of the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the organization. According to Arasly, the two important documents

10-year program of OIC and special declaration on solidarity of Islamic countries were signed on the results of the summit with participation of 57 participating countries.

Diplomat also reported that Azerbaijani President held some meetings with the heads of Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Brunei, OIC Secretary General, and Malaysian Prime-Minister to discuss development of the bilateral relations.

The Azerbaijani Ambassador noted that the first conference of the OIC Foreign Ministers would be held in Baku in June 2006. “The event will have positive impact not only on Azerbaijan’s image in the Islamic world, but in all world community, Arasly concluded. He stressed that preparation for the forthcoming meeting of the OIC Foreign Ministers started.
