“The Azerbaijan National Independence Party (ANIP) may hold its extraordinary congress,” Alim Babayev, a member of the Central Council of the party, told Trend.

Divergence of opinions is observed in the party, as the chairman of ANIP, Ali Aliyev took steps contradicted the regulations. On Sunday the leader of ANIP, Etibar Mammadov held a closed meeting with the leadership of the party to clarify the situation, but Aliyev refused from the participation in the meeting.

Babayev noted that the leadership of the party regarded the non-participation of Aliyev in the meeting as negative. “The Central Council will demand from Aliyev an account. The Central Council is expected to hold a meeting on the position taken by Aliyev soon,” he added.

According to Babayev, the party may stage extraordinary meeting in this regard.
