“The split of the Azerbaijan National Independence Party (ANIP) and establishment of the second party are not excluded,” Ali Aliyev, the chairman of the ANIP, told Trend.

Aliyev said that he did not participate in the meeting of ANIP leader Etibar Mammadov with the leadership of the party, as he was not officially invited to the meeting. “The second reason is my will to discuss the situation in the party with Mamamdov face-to-face,” he added.

Aliyev underlined that he had addressed to Mammadov in this regard for 10 days, but the ANIP leader left his addresses without reply. “I last turned to him on 16 December. We agreed to meet at one of the district branch of the party, but then I did not receive reply,” he stressed.

Aliyev also noted that he would not refuse from the cooperation with the opposition and boycott of the by-elections. As to the extraordinary congress, Aliyev said that holding of any congress or his dismissal would lead to the split or establishment of the second ANIP, but he neither would leave the post nor sacrifice national interests to personal one.
