Vienna to host winter session of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly

The fifth winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA), including meetings of the permanent committee and three joint committees, will be held at Congress Center Haufburg in Vienna on 23-24 February 2006, OSCE Secretariat based in Vienna told Trend.

In compliance with the draft program of the session, the session will start with a meeting of the permanent committee, immediately followed by a meeting of the joint committees. Elsee Hastings, the chairman of the OSCE PA, will deliver opening remarks to the meeting. Other speaker to the gathering will be the Austrian President and a report by OSCE chairman-in-office with further answers to questions.

The same day the joint committees on political issues and security issues, as well as issues of economy, science, technologies and environment. The first day of the session will end with a reception to be given by the Austrian parliament.

The second day of the session will start will start with the meeting of the joint committee on democracy, human rights and humanitarian issues. It is planned to hold debates on integration of new and old minorities into the society.

Besides, a meeting under the session of the Parliamentary Assembly will take a report by the special representative of the OSCE on gender issues and reports by chairs of three joint committees, a report by the Secretary General of the PACE PA and a final speech by the chairman of the OSCE PA.

Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation will participate in the work of the parliament.
