President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev congratulated on 6 January the Orthodox Congregation on the Christmas Holiday, Trend reports.
The message notes: Historically in Azerbaijan representatives of various confessions co-existed in peace and mutual respect. The Islam always honored earlier religions, including the Christianity. In Azerbaijan recognized in the world as the country with the religious tolerance, intolerance to other confessions was never displayed.
Peoples residing in the country preserved and developed more their national traditions, customs and languages.
