The governor of the Stavropol province Alexander Chernogorov met with the first vice Premier of Azerbaijan Abbas Abbasov who is on holiday in the region of the Caucasus Mineral Waters (CMW). At the meeting arranged on the initiative of Abbas Abbasov, the Days of Russia in Azerbaijan in February were discussed, the Stavropol province governors press service told Regnum IA.
Heading the organizational committee on preparations for the event and being the co-chairman of the Russia-Azerbaijan intergovernmental commission, Abbasov invited the Stavropol delegation led by the governor Chernogorov to participate in the events of the Days of Russia in Azerbaijan.
Chernogorov, in his turn, reminded of the ongoing currently preparations of the Agreement on the trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation between the governments of the Stavropol province and Azerbaijan. The draft document is now being coordinated at Federal ministries and in case of its readiness it may be signed in February. Chernogorov suggested for Azerbaijan to have its own sanatorium in this Federal spa.
Рђzerbaijan is one of the priority foreign economic partners of the Stavropol province. Export of the Stavropol wheat to Azerbaijan grew by several times for the previous five years, reaching 572,000 tons in 2005. The number of holidaymakers from Azerbaijan at the Caucasus Mineral Waters resorts also increased. Active contacts at the official state bodies and business circles level are taking place. According to Abbasov, the Stavropol province takes the first place on the goods turnover volume between Azerbaijan and other Russias regions.
The head of the CMW administration, the first vice Premier of the Stavropol province government Vitali Michaylenko and deputy chairman of the province government Anatoli Voropayev took also part in the meeting of Chernogorov and Abbasov.
