Azeri football team wins CIS Cup

Neftcvhi, an Azerbaijani football club, made an excellent present for 2006, gaining a CIS Cup in a splendid style. The teams from 15 former Soviet states, were not equal in power to Bakuians, which turned out victorious in the end, Trend reports.

Before the match Agasalim Mirjavadov, a coach of the team, was cunning while saying that the Moscow tournament will be a stage of preparations for the Azerbaijani sportsmen. However, the team left for the Russian capital with an only wish of victory. Even absence of leading footballers could not impede the flagman of the national team in the competition for the CIS Cup. The match with Kaunas ended in a fantastic success of the team.

Russian media with sympathy wrote about the power of Neftchi during the tournament. The famous portal gazeta.ru illustrated the staff of the final duet of the CIS Cup.

Over the past year the Baku footballers have become stronger thanks to the clubs successful transfer policy. In particular, Subashich, a Serb footballer, well recommended himself with three goals in the balance during the tournament. Avtandil Hajiyev was another successful part of the team, while Vladislav Michevich, a goalkeeper, was firm in his post. Thus, the tournament was successful and now the team concentrated its efforts in the participation in the national championship.
