President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev sent on 23 January 2006 a congratulatory message to Annibal Kavak Silva due to his election to the post of the Portugal president. The message notes, Azerbaijan attaches a large significance to the development of cooperation and friendship with Portugal, Trendreports.
The hope that bilateral relations and ties will expand and strengthen based on the both states interests is expressed.
