The vice Premier, the Defense Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Ivanov arrived on 23 January 2006 in Baku. Immediately upon his arrival to the airport the guest held talks with the Azerbaijan Defense Minister Safar Abiyev, on the result of which no statements to the media has been made, Trend reports.
On 24 January Sergey Ivanov will attend the grave of the Azerbaijan former president Heydar Aliyev and the Martyrs Alley. Meetings of the Russian Minister with the General Colonel Safar Abiyev, the Prime Minister Artur Rasizade are scheduled later. In the afternoon there will be a meeting with the president Ilham Aliyev.
Ivanovs visit to Gabala district for him to attend the radar station, leased by the Russian side is scheduled for 25 January.
After that the official visit of the Russias Defense Minister will be completed followed by his departure to Armenia.
