Sitting of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will start on 25 January 2006 at 17.00 of Baku time in Strasburg. Discussions in regard to the powers of the Azerbaijan parliamentary delegation to PACE will be held at the sitting. Immediately after the Committee sitting the afternoon meeting of the PACE session will start, at which the issue of the Azerbaijan delegation mandate, will be also under consideration, Trend reports.
Debates on the issue will take place at about 18.30 of Baku time.
During the Monitoring Committee yesterday (24 January) sitting, the decision was taken to propose the participants of the winter session not to deprive the parliamentary delegation of Azerbaijan of their mandate. However, after insistent address of the PACE co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan Andreas Gross to the PACE president Rene van der Linden the decision to hold a new meeting of the Monitoring committee was taken.
In the agenda of the session third day there are also such issues as the report on the human rights violations in Chechnya, the address of the Rumanian president Trayan Besescu, debates on the necessity to condemn the crimes of the totalitarian Communist regimes by the international community and other issues.
