Used transport represents a direct danger to life of Azeri drivers, chairman of ASCC

10-year or 15-year transports, imported to Azerbaijan from the CIS countries, represents a direct danger to life of drivers and cause damage to the ecology of the country, Kamalladin Heydarov, the chairman of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee (ASCC), said to journalists on Monday, Trend reports referring to ATV channel. He was commenting the information about possible toughening of customs duty on import of second-hand cars, particularly, increase of duties depend on operation term of engines.

The traffic police do not allow use of technically defective transport. Even new cars are due to pass technical control once in a year, Heydarov stressed. He noted that the issue is in competence of the police, but not the customs services of Azerbaijan.

This aspect will be taken into consideration in the draft decision, but we will also consult with state instances, responsible for defense of social conditions of the population, the chairman of the State Committee said. He added that experience of some states would be also taken into consideration in the final version of the decision.
