Azeri president to pay official visit to Japan

Azerbaijani Present Ilham Aliyev will pay an official visit to Japan in March 2006, Azer Huseyn, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary ambassador of Azerbaijan to Japan, told Trend.

According to the diplomat in 2005 the Azerbaijani President received an invitation to visit Japan officially. After the Foreign Ministry set up preparations for the visit and development of several documents to be signed in Tokyo. The documents cover political, economic and social sectors. The documents are not initiated only by Azerbaijan, as the Japanese side also submitted some documents to

Azerbaijan.

The documents got approval by both sides, while some corrections and changes should be made, he stressed. In particular, there is a document which will summarize the results of Azerbaijani presidents visit to Japan. At present the date and program of the visit is under coordination. On the of the visit a governmental delegation of Azerbaijan will visit Tokyo to set preparations for the details of the visit.

the diplomatic relationships between Azerbaijan and Japan was set up in 1991,. The Japanese embassy opened in Baku in 2000 and the Azerbaijani embassy was set up in Tokyo in August 2005.
