Fikret Mammadov, the justice minister, also the head of the Court- Law Council, is dissatisfied with the quality of consideration of lawsuits. Mammadov made a statement in a meeting in large at the Council on Thursday, Trend reports.
As compared to the European countries the number of judges per capita population in considerably low in Azerbaijan. It makes a negative impact on the quality of consideration of law-suits. It is not an only reason causing the shortages within the court system. Unfortunately, the judges misappropriate their office duties making unfair sentences and remaining difference towards the citizens problems. A number of complaints have been submitted in this respect. In accordance with the statistics, sentences by every third court of appeal are grounded. In this respect several judges were made answerable, Mammadov underscored.
He also noted that in some cases the judges demonstate indifferece towards the citizens and red-tape. Only in 2005 over 4,000 complaints have followed on the judges activities. It first of all concerns the judges of Narimanov, Surakhani, Sabunchi and Yasamal district courts, the minister underlined.
