No citizens of Azerbaijan among passengers of Salam-98 ferry sunk in Red Sea

According to the information from the Egypt and Saudi Arabia official bodies, there are no citizens of Azerbaijan among the passengers of the Salam-98 ferry sunk in the Red Sea, the first secretary of the Azerbaijan Embassy to Egypt Agaselim Shukyurov told Trend exclusively.

According to the diplomat, there are no grounds for concerns about the life of the Azerbaijan citizens staying in this region.

There were over 1,300 passengers, mostly Egyptian pilgrims, coming back from Hadj, about 100 crew members, as well as citizens of Syria, Sudan, Egypt, Canada and the United Arab Emirates on board of the Egyptian ferry, bound for Egyptian port Safaga from the Saudi port of Duba.

The Salam-98 Egyptian ferry sunk due to the fire. 322 persons have been saved, including 12 Saudis and a Syrian. It should be reminded the coastal services lost communication with the ferry on 3 February.
