Azerbaijan Oil Market: results of the week

During the week from 30 January to 3 February the average oil price for URAL (EX-NOVO), which is sold in the port of Novorossiysk by Azerbaijan was $57,22/barrel, which is for $1,17/barrels less of the week before (23-27 January) average price.

As Trend reports, the maximal price for barrel of URAL during the week from 30 January to 3 February was $58,61 (1 February), which is for $1,04/barrel lower of the limit price for this brand in the week from 23 January to 27 January, set on 23 January. The minimal price for barrel of URAL during the week of 30 January to 3 February was $55,22/barrel (3 February), which is for $1,99/barel lower of the minimal price for this brand in the week from 23 to 27 January, set on 26 January.

The average price for sample brand Brent (DTD) during the week from 30 January to 3 February was $64,17/barrel, which is for $0,40/barrel higher of the average price in the week from 23 to 27 January). The maximal price for barrel of Brent last week was $65,61/barrel (1 February), which is for $0,81/barrel more of the limit price for this brand in the week from 23 to 27 January), set on 27 January. The maximal price for barrel of Brent for the week from 30 January to 3 February was $62,19 (3 February), which is for $0,42/barrel less of the minimal price for this brand of the week from 23 January to 27 January), set on 25 January.

Last week the barrel of URAL (EX-NOVO) oil was sold in average cheaper in comparison to Brent for $6,95/barrel, which is for $1,57/barrel more of the average index of the week from 23 January to 27 January.

Density of URAL is 32 degrees by API, sulphur content is 1,3%, however, by selling specifications of this oil brand change in various times depending on dominating more (or less) quality oils in its composition. DTD density is 38,3 degrees by API, sulphur content is 0,36%.

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan announced tender last week for sale of 60,000 tons of the Urals oil in February 2006 with basic FOB from Novorossiysk. Shipment of the oil batch is expected on 26-27 February from the berths N6,7 of the Novorossiysk terminal. Results of the tender are expected on 8 February.

In 2005 SOCAR shipped 1,631 million tons of oil from Novorossiysk against 2,559 million tons in 2004. In December 2005 shipment of oil from Novorossiysk was 86,5 tons against 167,200 a month before and 166,300 tons in December 2004. In 2005 among all traders Glencore trader bought from SOCAR most oil from Novorossiysk 557,000 tons, the second place is LUKOIL 464,000 tons.

Since the start of 2006 the following companies bought oil from SOCAR:

January Glencore (85,000 tons);

February Taurus Petroleum (140,000 tons).
