The year of 2005 was very successful for the agriculture sector of the country. The gross production grew 7.5%, including planting 10.5%, cattle-breeding 3.6%. According to the State Statistics Committee, in 2005 along with grains growing and collection of tea leafs, the production of agriculture products rose considerably.

As of initial data, in this period the harvesting of grains, including corns, amounted to 2126,900 tons from the 802,300h. it was 1.4% down as compared to 2004. The average productivity made up 26.5 per centric meters from each hectare. The wheat took the major part in the composition of grains like last year. 73.6% of 1565,800 of grains fell on this culture. As compared to previous year the wheat production dropped 48,500 tons. The dry weather was reported as the key reason for sharp fall in productivity ratio, as well as cut in cut in areas sown under grains and beans and loss of some part of sown areas.

The production potato, vegetable and melon and water melons, in the opposite brat record 1083,100 tons, 1126,600 tons and 363,800 tons respectively. The potato production grew 16.4%, vegetables 4.7%, melon and water melons 2.4%.

The highest indices were fixed in the sphere of cotton and tobacco growing. Cotton production grew 60,700 tons and made up 196,400 tons. The amount of tobacco production comprised 7,100 tons, exceeding the figure of 2004 9.5%.

The production of fruits made up 625,100 tons, grapes - 79,700 tons, which rose 47.2% and 45.1% respectively. Moreover, the production of green tea leafs from 29.7% and comprised 737 tons.

In 2005 the cattle breeding developed more stably than planting.

According to the State Statistics Committee, in 2005 the meat production grew 3.9% as compared to 2004 and comprised 262,800 tons. Rise was observed in all a major groups.

Only 1.8 million of possible 4.8 million h of areas are used for agriculture purposes. 1393,300h of 1395h was given to private ownership. In 2005 the number of families, which expect to receive land plots, number 849,000, of which 99.8% of families are already land owners. In average, the families received 1.7h of plot per one.

In 2005 the State Statistics Committee accomplished the census of agriculture, which will enable for the first time from 1923 to compile full registration of the agrarian sector, estimate the potential taxation base in the agriculture and efficiency of agrarian reforms. The conduct of census was sanctioned at the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers, dated 28 November 2003.
